Can I Get Braces On My First Visit?

Before your braces are officially put, a few procedures are carried out during your first sessions. As the process of wearing braces requires several sessions with your orthodontist, patience is a must. You may be wondering how many visits there are before receiving braces.

To acquire braces, you may need to make one or more visits with the orthodontist. The kind of case, dental health, and treatment strategy all affect how many visits are necessary. You may need to make many visits if you need to have a spacer or a tooth extracted before getting braces.

Before obtaining braces, you should visit the orthodontist’s office at least once for a consultation and any pre-treatments.

The Following are the Usual Steps:

• See the orthodontist for a free consultation.
• Your orthodontist will go through your dental condition along with the cost of your treatment with either you or your parents.
• During your second visit, separators (sometimes called tooth spacers) will be inserted between your rear molars.
• Before your subsequent visit, these separators will be left in place to provide room between your teeth.
• At the third appointment, bands are affixed to the spaces your separators produced.
• If you don’t need bands, your dentist could put the braces on during your third session, or they might wait until your next appointment.
• Ask any questions you may have, such as “Do braces hurt?” during your first session along with any other questions that come to mind.
